These terms cover the noteloom software — the open-source noteloom npm package and its source code, wherever you obtain or run it. For terms covering this website specifically, see Terms of Use.
Free for anyone, anywhere
noteloom is released under the MIT License and is free to use by any person, team, or organization, anywhere in the world, for personal or commercial purposes — there's no account, no usage limit, and no fee. See License & usage for the full license text.
One request: don't resell it as-is
The MIT license technically permits reselling the software itself, but we ask, in good faith, that you don't package noteloom up unchanged (or with only cosmetic changes) and resell it as its own paid product or template. Building a product — including a paid one — with noteloom inside it is exactly what it's for and always welcome. This is a courtesy request, not a license term; see License & usage for the legally binding text.
Acceptable use
You may use noteloom for any lawful purpose. You agree not to use it, or contribute code intended to be used, to:
- Build or distribute anything illegal under the laws applicable to you.
- Cause harm — to people, systems, or data — including malware, tools designed to harass or defraud, or anything meant to damage, disable, or gain unauthorized access to systems you don't own or have permission to test.
- Infringe on anyone else's intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights.
- Misrepresent noteloom's origin, or claim you wrote it, when redistributing the source itself.
Beyond that, what you build with it is entirely up to you — we don't review, approve, or monitor how noteloom is used downstream, and we have no visibility into it at all.
No warranty
noteloom is provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement — exactly as stated in the MIT license. It is maintained on a best-effort, volunteer basis; there is no guarantee of support, updates, or bug fixes on any timeline.
Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for how you use noteloom and for anything that results from that use. This includes, without limitation, the content created with it, how you store or transmit that content, the security and compliance posture of any application you build with it, and any consequence — direct, indirect, incidental, or otherwise — arising from your use or misuse of the software. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the maintainers and contributors are not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from, out of, or in connection with the software or your use of it. If something goes wrong, that risk and responsibility is yours, not ours — the same allocation of risk the MIT license itself already sets out.
Contributions
Code you contribute is accepted under the same MIT license that covers the rest of the project — see Contributing.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the project evolves; the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continuing to use noteloom after a change means you accept the updated terms.
